3 oz. Gin
1 oz. Vodka
1/2 oz. Lillet Blanc

1/2 oz. Gin

1/2 oz. Tequila

The Purist Hurricane Cocktail Recipe

1 1/2 oz. Light Rum
1 1/2 oz. Dark Rum
1 oz. Passion Fruit Syrup
3/4 oz. Lime Juice

Pour into glass with ice. Shake and strain into tall glass with ice.

 

Tequila Slammer

1/2 parts Tequila
1/2 parts 7Up

When the two ingredients are in the shot glass, take a folded paper towel and put over the top. Slam the shot glass on the table, bar, etc. Make sure the drink fizzes. Turn up and drink while it's still fizzing. The 7Up should not be cold.

 

Rickstasy Cocktail

1 1/2 oz Vodka
1/2 oz Southern Comfort
1/2 oz Bailey's Irish Cream
1/2 oz Banana Liqueur

Pour ingredients over ice in a glass and stir.

 

The La Mamilla

1 liter Tequila
5 Mexican Beers
4 oz. Lemon Juice
32 oz. Clamato

Empty the beers into a large container, add the lemon, tequila and clamato, then swirl. Serve in beer mug with ice and squirts of Tabasco to taste. Salt and pepper may be added.

 

The Dirty Banana

1 oz. Dark Rum
1 oz. Kahlua
1 oz. Creme de Banana
1 oz. Half and Half
1/2 Banana
Ice

Blend all together, serve in rocks glass.

 

Darth Vader

1/2 oz. Gin
1/2 oz. Light Rum
1/2 oz. Tequila
1/2 oz. Triple Sec
1/2 oz. Vodka
1 oz. Sweet & Sour Mix
1/2 oz. Jagermeister

Pour vodka, gin, tequila, triple sec, rum and sour mix into a Collins glass filled with ice then top with 1/2 oz. Jagermeister. Garnish with a Star Wars action figure.

 

Cosmic Screw

1 1/2 oz. Citrus Vodka
1/2 oz. Triple Sec.
Orange Juice
Cranberry Juice

A cross between Cosmopolitan and Screwdriver. Pour orange juice into a rocks glass full of ice, leave 1/2 inch. Top with cranberry juice and garnish with lime.

 

The Pimms Cup

1 1/4 oz. Pimm's #1
3 oz. Lemonade
7Up

Fill a tall 12 oz. glass with ice and add Pimm's #1 and lemonade. Top off with 7up and garnish with cucumber.

 

The Firecracker

2 oz. Rum
1 oz. Vodka
1/2 oz. Sloe Gin
1/2 oz. Cuban Rum
Orange Juice

Pour ingredients into a rocks glass filled with ice.

 

Sangria

1 bottle Red Wine
1/2 cup Orange Juice
1/4 cup Pineapple Juice
1/2 cup Sugar
2 shots Mexican Brandy
3 shots Triple Sec
1/2 cup Club Soda
1 Lemon, cut into slices
1 Orange, cut into slices
2 Limes, cut into slices

Chill all ingredients, mix all together in a pitcher over ice. You might want to add more sugar to taste and mix it all together (omit club soda and ice) the night before, let fruit steep in alcohol. Add soda and ice just before serving.

 

Mojito

2 oz. Light Rum
2 oz. Club Soda
1 teaspoon Sugar
3 Lime wedges
4 Mint leaves
Sprigs of Mint

Using a muddler*, gently crush mint leaves, sugar and lightly squeeze lime in a cool tall glass. Fill glass with ice. Add rum, club soda and stir your emerging mojito well. Garnish with a lime wedge and a few sprigs of mint.

*A muddler is a wooden tool used to mash fruits, herbs and/or spices in the bottom of a glass to release their flavor. You can use a wooden spoon or citrus reamer.

 

Daiquiri

1 cup Ice
2 oz. Rum
2 oz. Lime Juice
Dash of Sour mix
1/2 teaspoon Sugar

In a blender, blend all ingredients until smooth. Garnish with lime. For the "Papa Doble" variation, named after Ernest Hemingway, double the proportion of rum.

 

Zombie

1 oz. Light Rum
1 oz. Dark Rum
1/2 oz. Apricot Brandy
Dash of Grenadine
2 oz. Orange Juice
2 oz. Pineapple Juice

In a tall glass with ice, pour all ingredients and shake. Then, top with a float of 1 oz. 151 Rum. Garnish with lemon, orange slice and a cherry.

 

Colorado Bulldog

1 Shot Jimmy Hendrix Vodka
1 Shot Starbucks Coffee Liqueur
1 Shot Cream

In a tall glass of ice, pour all ingredients and fill cola to the top.

 

Golf Martini

4 oz. Gin
1 oz. Dry Vermouth
4 Dashes of Angostura Bitters

Shake with cracked ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with an olive.

 

Plum Smuggler

3 1/2 oz. Vodka (Suzi used Jimi Hendrix Electric Vodka) or Black Vodka (Blavod)
1/2 oz. Blackberry Liqueur

Pour all ingredients into a tall glass of ice. Shake and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with 2 vodka-soaked prunes.

 

Hot Buttered Rum

1 stick Unsalted Butter, softened
1 cup Light Brown Sugar
1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon Grated Nutmeg
Pinch of Ground Cloves
Pinch of Salt
3 oz. Dark Rum
Boiling Water

In a bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and salt. Refrigerate until almost firm. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the butter mixture into a mug. Pour about 3 ounces of rum into mug (filling about halfway). Top with boiling water (to fill the remaining half), stir well and serve immediately.

 

Rum Runner/ Sledgehammer

1 oz. Dark Rum
1/2 oz. Blackberry Liquor
1/2 oz. Crème de Banana
Dash of Grenadine
Orange Juice

Pour all ingredients into a tall glass of ice. Fill the glass almost to the top with orange juice and garnish with a cherry to make a Rum Runner. For a Sledgehammer, add 1/2 oz. 151-proof Rum. This drink can be blended and strained into a martini glass, or use less orange juice.

 

Mudslide Martini

1 oz. Vanilla Vodka
1 oz. Starbucks Cream Liqueur
1 oz. Starbucks Coffee Liqueur

Combine ingredients in a mixing glass. Add ice, stir to chill and strain into your Swank martini glass. Add a chocolate kiss for a hidden prize at the bottom!

 

Manhattan

2 oz. Whiskey (Suzi used Maker's Mark)
1/4 oz. Dry Vermouth
Dash of Angostura Bitters

In a tall glass with ice, pour all ingredients and strain into a martini glass. Add a cherry, and some cherry juice can be added to taste.

 

Cranberry Blast

1 oz. Ouzo
1 oz. Rum
1 oz. Triple Sec

In a tall glass with ice, pour all ingredients and fill to the top with cranberry juice. Garnish with an orange slice.

 

Skip and Go Naked

1 Can of Beer
1 Can of Frozen Limeade
1 Can of Tequila

Pour all ingredients in a blender and mix with ice.

 

Hair of the Dog

6 oz. Gin
1/2 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
2-3 Dashes of Tabasco Sauce
Slice of Chili Pepper

This drink is a great remedy for hangovers. Pour the gin, lemon juice and Tabasco into an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake generously. Strain into a chilled rocks glass. Garnish with a chili pepper and lime wedge.

 

Cafe Foster

1 oz. Dark Rum
3/4 oz. Banana Liqueur

In a coffee mug, mix ingredients and fill with black coffee. Top with whipped cream and sliced bananas.

 

Touchdown Tea

1/2 part Vodka
1/4 part Tequila
1/2 part Rum
1/2 part Gin
1/2 part Triple Sec
1 1/2 part Lemon-Lime Gatorade
Splash of Cola
Orange Juice (optional)

Fill a punch bowl with ice. Pour ingredients into the bowl and stir well. This punch is best served over ice. Have an ice bucket full of ice nearby for your guests to fill their glass before pouring the punch.

 

Boston Sidecar

1 oz. Light Rum
1/2 oz. Brandy
1/2 oz. Triple Sec
1/2 oz. Lime Juice

Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

 

New York Cocktail

2 oz. Whiskey
1 oz. Lime Juice
1 tbsp. Superfine Sugar
1/2 tbsp. Grenadine
Lemon Twist for garnish

Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. Shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with lemon twist.

 

Kir Royal

1 oz. Creme de Cassis or Blackberry Liqueur
Champagne or White Wine
Lemon Twist or Blackberry for garnish

Pour Creme de Cassis and top with champagne. Garnish with lemon twist. Substitute with red wine to make a Cardinal.

 

Stevie Ray Vaughn

1 oz. Jack Daniel's
1 oz. Southern Comfort
1 oz. Triple Sec
1 oz. Sweet and Sour
5 oz. Orange Juice

Shake ingredients over ice. Strain into shot glasses.

 

Black and Tan

1 part Bass® Pale Ale
1 part Guinness® Stout

Fill stien half full with Bass® Pale Ale. Next, pour Guinness® Stout over a spoon slowly until glass is full. If done correctly, the Guinness® Stout will stay on top and the Bass® Pale Ale on bottom, hence the name "Black & Tan."

 

Leap Year Cocktail

1 1/4 oz. Gin
1/2 oz. Grand Marnier
1/2 oz. Sweet Vermouth
1/4 tsp. Lemon Juice

Shake all ingredients with ice, strain into a cocktail glass and serve.

 

Irish Manhattan

2 oz. Jameson Irish Whiskey
1/4 oz. Sweet Vermouth
1/4 oz. Dry Vermouth

Combine all ingredients in cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a Maraschino cherry.

 

Charro Negro

1 shot Jose Cuervo Black Medallion
1 squirt Lime Juice
Splash of Coke

Pour ingredients into a salt-rimmed margarita glass over ice.

 

John Daly Recipe

1 1/4 oz. Absolut® Citron Vodka
1/4 oz. Triple Sec
Fill with 1/2 Lemonade
Fill with 1/2 Iced Tea

Fill a collins glass with ice. Add Absolut® Citron and Triple Sec. Fill glass with equal parts lemonade and iced tea. Garnish with a lemon wedge or cigarette butt.

 

Cornwall-Nash

1 1/2 oz. Light Rum
1/2 oz. Gin
1/2 oz. Triple Sec
2 oz. Grapefruit Juice
1 tsp. Cherry Brandy
1 Maraschino Cherry

Pour the Rum, Gin, Triple Sec and grapefruit juice into a highball glass almost filled with ice cubes. Stir well. Drop the cherry brandy into the center of the drink. Garnish with the cherry.

 

B&B Collins Recipe

1 1/2 oz. Brandy
1/2 oz. Benedictine Herbal Liqueur (or Collins Mix)
1 oz. Lemon Juice
1 oz. Sugar Syrup
5 oz. Soda Water

Pour brandy, lemon juice, sugar syrup and soda water into a frosted glass two-thirds filled with ice. Sprinkle Benedictine on top. Serve with straws, and garnish with a cherry and slices of orange and lemon.

 

Lucious Lovesack (Strawberry Ballsack)

Strawberries
Amaretto Liqueur
Grand Marnier

Cut the tops off and core the strawberries so they resemble a cup. Place berries standing up in an ice tray, as it makes them easy to fill. Fill with Amaretto or Grand Marnier. Top with whipped cream.

Variation: Rinse package of large strawberries. Fill turkey injector (large syringe) with Grand Marnier or Amaretto and inject into strawberry.

Hints: Strawberries can be dipped in chocolate before injecting. Strawberries are best if very cold or even lightly frozen.

 

Kentucky Swampwater

2 oz. Jim Beam® Bourbon Whiskey
1 splash Blue Curacao Liqueur
5 oz. Orange Juice
1 dash Sweet and Sour Mix

Build over ice.

 

Caribbean Martini

1 1/2 oz. Vanilla Vodka (Stoli)
3/4 oz. Malibu Rum
1 splash Pineapple Juice

Shake ingredients over ice. Pour into glass.

 

Bourbon Godfather

2 1/2 oz. Bourbon
1/2 oz. Amaretto

Pour shots into shaker with ice, shake, strain into rocks glass filled with ice. Rating: Dean, Rog, Matt and Suzi all agree: this is a winner!

 

Mr. Big

4 oz. Scotch Whisky
2 oz. Sweet Vermouth
3 dashes Peach Bitters
Peach slice for garnish

Crazy Duane’s Bloody Mary

In a tall glass of ice, pour:

As much cheap vodka as you want ...
As many dashes of Tabasco sauce as you want ...

A generous splash of zesty pickle juice ...

Fill to the rim with Beefamato, a mixture of beef broth and tomato juice. Garnish with fresh ground pepper, a squeeze of lime and a pickle spear.

 

Hotel California

1/2 cup Ice
1 oz. Tequila
1 oz. Apricot Brandy
Scoop of Orange Sherbet

Blend ingredients in a blender. Float 1/2 oz. Grenadine on top.

 

Big Red Bud

Bud Light Lime
Clamato
Tabasco
Worchestershire

In a chilled beer mug, pour a very cold Bud Light Lime. Leave room at the top, about a third of the way, for Clamato juice. Rim the lip of the glass with lime, then squeeze into concoction. Add Tabasco or Worcestershire to taste.

 

Damian's Sicilian Cosmo

3 oz. Vodka
1/2 oz. Triple Sec
2 oz. Sweet and Sour Mix (This is the real secret, we make ours from scratch - 3 limes, 1 lemon, 1 oz. simple syrup)
1/2 oz. Blood Orange Puree

Combine in a shaker cup with chipped or crushed ice. Shake vigorously. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with decorative lemon twist. Consume and repeat as needed.

 

Tico Rum Punch

Rum (I used Flor de Cana from Costa Rica)
Dash of Simple Syrup (or lemon lime soda)
Ice
Diced Fruit (I used watermelon, papaya and pineapple)

In a blender, pour 2 oz. Rum per person and the rest of the ingredients. Serve in chilled rocks glasses. "Pura Vida!"

 

Key Lime Pie Martini

2 oz. Vanilla Vodka
2 oz. KeKe Beach Liquor
1 oz. Lime Juice

Garnish rim with a mix of graham cracker crumbs and sugar, and a lime wedge.

 

Woodstock

1 1/2 oz. Gin
1 oz. Lemon Juice
1 teaspoon Maple Syrup
Dash Orange Bitters

Combine ingredients in a shaker, shake and strain into a chilled martini or cocktail glass.

 

Whiskey Sour

2 oz. Whiskey (Bourbon, rye or Tennessee whiskey all work well. Scotch, too, if that’s your type, or Canadian, if that's what's at hand.)
2 oz. Orange Juice
1 teaspoon Sugar
1 egg white (optional—use if you’re feeling mildly adventurous, or need a drink with a little more gravitas)

Pour ingredients into a cocktail shaker, fill with ice and shake for 10 seconds (if using the egg white, give it a little extra muscle and a little extra time). Strain into a chilled cocktail glass, or into an ice-filled Old Fashioned glass. Garnish with a cherry, a slice of orange, or everything or nothing at all.

 

Bloody Martini

1-1/2 oz. Pepper-flavored Vodka
1 oz. Plain Vodka
2 oz. Tomato Juice
Pinch of Celery Salt
Lemon Twist

Combine both vodkas, the tomato juice and celery salt in a cocktail shaker two-thirds full of ice. Shake until well chilled. Strain the mixture into a chilled martini glass rimmed with old bay seasoning. Garnish with the lemon twist.

 

Gargoyle

1/3 oz. Vodka
1/3 oz. Gin
1/3 oz. Passion Fruit Nectar

Put ingredients into shaker half filled with ice, shake and serve in a chilled martini glass.

 

Bahamas Punch

3 shots of White or Golden Rum
1 teaspoon Sugar Syrup
2 oz. Lemon Juice
3 dashes Bitters
1/2 teaspoon Grenadine
Orange and Lemon Slices
Juice of 1 Lemon

Dean, Rog and Matt all give thumbs up! In a pitcher of ice, combine all ingredients and pour over ice. It gets better if you let it sit for a while.

 

Gimlet

3 oz. Gin
Juice from 1/2 Lime
1 Lime Wedge

Pour the gin and lime juice into a shaker half-filled with ice cubes. Shake well. Strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with the lime wedge.
