Yoga and Your Health
The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Center will host a free educational program featuring Swami Ramdevji, the world’s leading proponent of Patanjali Yoga, at 7:30 p.m. Thurs., July 17, at the Cancer Prevention Building, 1155 Pressler St. Ramdevji will teach simple breathing exercises that have been shown to positively influence high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, heart diseases, ulcerative colitis, arthritis, cancer and other chronic ailments. Texas L.E.A.D. Conference and Career Fair

Reliant Park World Series of Dog Shows

Quillian Recreation Center Accepting Summer Camp Registrations
First Methodist Houston's Quillian Recreation Center, 10570 Westpark Drive at the Sam Houston Tollway, has opened online enrollment for its accredited summer camp. Twelve one-week day camp sessions for children age five to 14 will run 7 a.m.-6:30 p.m. and feature a competition swimming pool, a Noah’s Ark pool, soccer fields, an indoor gymnasium, a game room, an outdoor covered basketball court and a climbing wall. Sessions begin June 2 and run through Aug. 22.

Spring-Klein Chamber's "Christmas in July"
The new Spring Klein Chamber of Commerce will hold a "Christmas in July" banquet and silent auction 6-10 p.m. July 25, at Augusta Pines Savannahs, 18 Augusta Pines Drive, Spring. Houston Family Arts Center to Stage "The Wizard of Oz"
The Houston Family Arts Center will present the Royal Shakespeare Company version of "The Wizard of Oz" Aug. 1-16 at The Berry Center, 8877 Barker Cypress Road. Stars of "The Closer" Set for Sunshine Kids Celeb Gala

Aggie Fish Blast '08

Conference Set by National Black Leadership Initiative on Cancer
The National Black Leadership Initiative on Cancer (NBLIC) will host the “Health Disparities Symposium on Cancer: Addressing the Issues,” Sept. 22-23 at the Marriott Houston, 1750 West Loop South. The conference for health professionals, co-sponsored by The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, will address racial and ethnic health disparities, clinical trials and African-American participation, barriers to health care, and cancer disparities. The Susan G. Komen “On the Go” tour bus will also be on hand. Among featured speakers will be Dwight E. Randle, Ph.D., senior scientific advisor for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Lovell A. Jones, Ph.D., director of the Center for Research on Minority Health at M. D. Anderson, and Elise D. Cook, M.D., associate professor of Clinical Cancer Prevention at M. D. Anderson. Festival of Lights 2008
